Emma Russack – Winter Blues LP Vinyl Record
Prolific Melbournian singer-songwriter Emma Russack released her stunning fifth album “Winter Blues” in 2019. The album was backed by the harrowing single and title track “Winter Blues’, this work stands as Emma’s most personal to date.
“Winter Blues” arrives at a time when all of us are feeling a bit unenthusiastic, a bit introspective, a bit forlorn. The calendar’s most despondent months are upon on us, but Russack would never want you to hide – it’s ok, everything’s ok. Russack is no poet, no analogist, but prides herself on sincerity and such candidness materialises into one of the rawest records of 2019. Russack isn’t disgruntled, she’s at peace with acceptance and in more ways than one, she’s found life’s antidote to insecurity.
Russack explains, “thematically, the songs deal with love, loss and confusion in the context of a fairly confusing, complex world. The songs pose many questions but refuse to give answers, and that’s the way I like it. That is not to say that the songs aren’t hopeful; they are – but it is my hope that the listener can engage with the songs freely, answering (or not answering) the questions for themselves in relation to their own lives and experiences.”
