In folklore, the Banshee is a female spirit that heralds the death of a family member by wailing or screaming.  In this detailed illustration, model Julie Strain is depicted as the emissary of Death.  Originally created for her own exhibition, and later featured on the cover of Heavy Metal magazine, Olivia De Berardinis captures the silvery spirit with her blackened wings, sharpened claws and boots and serpentine tattoos with deadly beauty.

Olivia De Berardinis has been working as an artist since the mid-70’s. Since 1985 Olivia has been a contributor to Playboy Magazine, where her art pinup page often appeared with captions written by Hugh Hefner.

Olivia’s artwork has been shown in art galleries throughout the United States and Japan, and is collected by fans worldwide.
