Formed in 2011, The Murlocs are an Australian rock band from Melbourne made up of members of other bands signed to Flightless Records, including King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard and ORB. Their sound is a mixture of rock and R&B, with the distorted harmonica of Kenny-Smith giving the band a distinct touch.

Released in 2021, “Bittersweet Demons” provides Melbourne with some much-needed bluesy brightness to bring some joy to listener’s mid-lockdown lives. The album is soulful, rowdy, and overall ballsy, with an emphasis placed on exploring new sounds and remaining curious during the writing process. The track “Francesca” is a lively introduction to the release, with “No Self Control” built on a a sincere piano ballad. Kenny-Smith’s harmonics open up playfully during “Eating At You” and “Skewhiff”, while tracks like “Skyrocket” and “Illuminate The Shade” bring forth a healthy dose of psychedelic expression and groovy riffage. The album successfully maintains a good balance between a fun-loving atmosphere, and a collection of thoughtful lyrics and messages. Over a decade into their creative works, The Murlocs show no signs of stopping, and this release provides even more evidence of that fact.

Pressed on Skyrocket Coloured Vinyl. Housed in a deluxe die-cut cover printed on heavy 350gsm board with pullout insert, inside a custom printed 100% recyclable brown cardboard sleeve.
